OUT OF BOUNDS!

The mini pitch is OUT OF BOUNDS to anyone participating in matches at the weekend.  This is due to the amount of sand that is being taken on to the water based pitches which have recently been cleaned.  All players, umpires, coaches and managers should be cleaning their shoes before they play as this helps prevent cross contamination and keeps the pitches slime free!!.   At weekends all running and stretching which forms part of a players warm up should be done on the overflow car park behind pitch 1.  Any stick and ball work can then be done once the team has access to their allotted pitch.  Captains please remember to tell your opposition of these arrangements.   Please do your bit to help us preserve our facilities.

Ladies 3 v Waltham Forest 3

Everyone worked hard, not seeming to show any lethargy, despite this being our first game post- Christmas. Our presses at free hits worked extremely well, forcing errors from WF.

Governance Review

Following the recent consultation process England Hockey ("EH") issued their revised proposals on governance and structure at the end of December.  For the first time the proposals included indicative guidance on how new Area leagues might look and where and who our teams might be playing from 2021.

Having reviewed the document and spoken to other local clubs similarly affected, your management committee has advised EH:

(a) that OLHC would be in favour of the proposal to implement uniform rules and regulations across all leagues in England; but

(b) that OLHC could not support the proposal to replace the current 5 Regions with 8 new much smaller Areas and sub-areas (1/6th of the size of a Region) for our teams to play in.

Full details are set out on the club website in the News section.  Please read the submission we have made to EH and provide the management committee with your feedback.  The AGM to vote on the proposals is in March.

We have spoken to EH who have confirmed that the indicative proposals are far from set in stone and that they will seek to produce revised proposals based on what we and other clubs advise.

Your committee will be working with EH, East and other local clubs to try to find a solution which is in the best interests of members
