Hockey Headlines 176

The Leagues are underway.

Finally the League Season gets underway tomorrow for all 9 of the Men’s Teams and Four Ladies Teams.

The Mens 1s face Richmond away , with COach Lee Ible having inside knowledge on the opponents having faced them in previous seasons with former club Cardiff Uni . We wish them all the best for a flying start .

Holmes Brings it Home

Faye Holmes opened the scoring with a great shot from a tight angle, was followed by a neatly taken second from Emily Holmes against St Albans last week in what  was originally scheduled to be a League game.  Kiera Dawes ,in an eye catching performance then  winning and confidently converting a Penalty to make it 3-0 , augurs well for how they may perform in the league.

Wapping 1's at Lee Valley is a great first game for the girls at Lee Valley tomorrow to get their League campaign underway . Good luck girls .

Chloe Joarder showing excellent style. (Thanks for the great photography Peter Joarder).

QR Codes

The government have finally provided  an App that works for the Track and Trace system and you will notice pictures of the little black splodges  around areas of the Club and entrances when you visit this week .

Please help everyone by downloading the NHS CoVid-19 App and using this to check in to the Club grounds whether player or spectator.

Bar Open (Again!)

Our valiant bar staff have managed to provide a takeout service for the last 3 weeks and that is the favoured method once again this week, though there will be some tables available inside.  Keep in mind

  •  You now need a Mask to enter the Clubhouse.
  • You cannot stand at the bar.  Table Service only .
  • We only take Contactless payments

We will try to improve what we can offer and hope to provide normal teas again one day but for the moment it’s Pastries or Pizza to eat.

Back To Hockey - We want women!

The long awaited Wednesday night sessions have returned and the first outings of the season have been great fun .Some very useful new male players have joined in and already started filtering into teams, the girls who attend are still bossing it but we just need more of them.

The Club is so close to being able to put out a Ladies 5s Team again, with the Top teams performing well, advancing up the leagues ,and players joining and  committing, we’re a handful of players away from getting back to the numbers we should have and who knows – maybe a 6th Team one day  . So who do you know that you can get back interested again? Put them in touch, if they join, it’s another massive saving for both of you on ….

Membership Fees

As we enter the last week before the fee deadline date, please do make sure you are paid up?

Don’t forget that we offer flexibility on payment via Standing Orders for example, there are also many ways of getting discounts and we will always try to help in these difficult times anyway. Give Harriet a shout to work out a plan if you need to. (Membership@oldloughtonians.co.uk)
