Clubmark accreditation

1. Clubmark

We are delighted to announce that the Club has received its Clubmark accreditation from England Hockey.  Please follow this link to the England Hockey website for details.

This completes a two year project and we would like to thank all the volunteers who have helped with the formal accreditation process and also all those captains, coaches, managers and other members who have adopted and implemented the policies and procedures which have enabled us to achieve this quality approval. The latest policies and codes can all be read on the website.

We are one of under 50 clubs in the country who have so far achieved this accreditation.  We plan to celebrate the accreditation later this season when England Hockey will make a formal presentation at the club and plan to bring along a couple of current internationals to meet club members.

2. Development Plan

As part of the process we have implemented the new ambitious five year development plan.

http://www.oldloughtonians.co.uk/development_plan

The Club's five year Development Plan reflects both the ethos and aspirations of the Club as it approaches its centenary year and addresses the aims and challenges identified.
The Development Plan (incorporating a SWAT Analysis and supported by a rolling Action Plan) is intended to be an evolving document and the members of the management committee would welcome ongoing feedback on the plan itself and its implementation.

The Club is the combination of all of its members and relies on the invaluable  contributions of all of its volunteers.  If you would like to volunteer to help in any way please let any member of the management committee know.

The key elements of the Development Plan are as follows.

Ambition
Promotion for the M1s into the new South Division of the National League and ultimately back into the Premier League.
Consolidation for the W1s this season followed by promotion back into the National League.

Continued Success
Building on the success of the Club's Colt and Mini sections and continuing  to contest and win County, Regional and National competitions both indoors and outdoors.

A Club for all
Continuing to cater for hockey for all age groups from Minis to Supervets and for all standards from beginner and Back to Hockey to elite National League.

A Club with a home
Continuing to be a Club with a home and to provide members with the excellent facilities we enjoy at Luxborough Lane and a Club of members working for each other for the long term rather than a business offering its wares to those shopping for what they can get rather than what they can contribute.

Fund for the future
Investing towards the future by creating a fighting fund to cover the anticipated costs of replacing and renovating pitches, floodlights and other facilities.

Welcome home
Seeking to find additional financial support to cover ongoing and anticipated costs, fund top quality coaching and to enable the Club to entice back its returning talent and new recruits.

3. Succession planning and implementation
The 2020/21 season will be the club’s centenary year. We plan to use that season to celebrate the success of the club and to help further the development plan aims.
Within the next  6 to 8 years we will need to replace our pitches and infrastructure and as part of the plan we will be setting up a dedicated fund raising team tasked with raising the funds we will need over that period.  More on that to follow.

Our new chairman will have an exciting and fulfilling tenure and please do let Julie know if you are interested in the role.  With the opportunities for wider sponsor participation envisaged by the development plan and the ambitious targets set, this is a great time for our new chairman to help guide the club into our next 100 years.

If anyone has any questions relating to this excellent affirmation of the quality of the Club (which in practice means the quality of the people who make the Club what it is) please let us know.
