Over 50’S Win London League Trophy
It should be no surprise that our Over 50’s were winners of last Season’s London League over 50’s competition, in spite of a range of very strong clubs at this level, however when the news was related to skipper Andy Cresswell and Club Chair , Phil Wheater, they were both surprised to hear that this was the case.
Tales of valiant wins, super skills and surprising agility of our senior team weren’t forthcoming as they couldn’t actually remember how this had come about but a wins’ a win so many congratulations to them and good luck for this season’s campaign .
Results Round-Up & Home Fixtures this Weekend
Last week’s results were mainly wins. The Men’s 1’s thrashing Harleston Magpies but somehow only drawing 2-2 they will look to improve upon that tomorrow evening against St Albans.
Wins for the Men’s 2’s , 3’s , 4’s 5’s and 6’s – unusually the Willow’s 7s and 8’s both defeated .
Ladies 1’s lost at home to “bogie team” Bishops Stortford 3-1 and hit the road this week up to Sudbury to see whether they can fair better against them having played already in a pre- season friendly .
The remainder of the Ladies team’s fared well , the 2’s showing that they will be a force in this next league up with a 3-1 win , a draw for the 3’s and an emphatic 8-0 (!) win for the ladies 4th Team.
We have 6 home games tomorrow , with the Super Vets starting the day at 11:30 , followed by Ladies 3’s and the Men’s 3s on Pitch 1 .
Loppers, Rangers and the high flying Ladies 4s, on pitch 2.
Determination and Team Spirit from Ladies 2
Determined to make up for last weeks defeat, the ladies 2’s showed an amazing display of good team work and determination against East London. The ladies battled hard in the first half, with Emily scoring a brilliant goal finishing the first half at 1-0. In the second half, Loughts came back even stronger showing some great defensive work and numerous amazing saves from Sally, who was later named player of the match. East London levelled up in the beginning of the second half to 1-1. However, as a result of 2 great short corners, Loughts demonstrated great skills and team work and scored 2 further goals by Rosie and Ella. Overall the ladies 2’s had a fantastic game and once again showed their ability to work cohesively and play great hockey.
Refurbishment Fund Raising Underway.
Even before the formal fund raising efforts begin for the Clubhouse facelift, a massive thanks to all those who kindly donated their Ticket Money from last Season’s End of Season Dinner to the cause .
With around £500 now in the kitty, it’s a great start and you will see and hear more from your Team mates about what you can do to help in the coming weeks.
