Indoor Success
U16 East Indoor Title
With 3 teams taking part in the East rounds of the U16 boy’s tournament, we took a full squad of 12. With some training under our belts, we felt quietly confident of retaining the trophy we won last year. Our first game was against Norwich City, who we drew with last year in the same tournament. With some impressive indoor hockey, we ran out 10-3 winners. Everybody playing their part on the pitch. Our last match was against Saffron Walden who made it tough for the first half, with us leading 3-1. With a stern team talk at the break, the players came out with clear intent on playing some more impressive indoor hockey. We eventually ran out winning 10-1 and therefore East champions again. Quick mention about the team defensively, only letting in 4 goals in 80mins of indoor hockey, no mean feat. Attacking was clinical, scoring 20 goals on the day. Now we are looking forward to the National finals in January.

U18 Girls Indoor through to Nationals
There was high excitement at Aldenham School last Saturday as the U18 girls deservedly progressed through to the Indoor National Finals in January. Carrying some very valuable experience from the previous weekend’s tournament in Norwich, in their first match the girls put on a strong display against a very talented Harleston Magpies side. Although eventually losing 5-3 the girls were determined and creative in their play. The second match saw them play Canterbury, another very experienced indoor team. The first half was tight, but Canterbury forged into a 3-1 lead after half time. Determination again shone through and the girls focused on the task in hand and managed to bring the scores level. The last few minutes were frantic as both sides pressurised. With no addition to the score there followed a tense wait for a favourable result in the Harleston-Canterbury match. By half time the mood had eased as Harleston were on top, eventually running out 14-1 winners. It wouldn’t be fair to single anyone out as the whole squad put in a very commendable performance.

Supervets Progress Report
Well an away game at Indian Gym was always going to be interesting! Despite the score, I hope you enjoyed the game against one of the best teams that I have seen playing in this league. They also allowed us to play and to our credit, we played some good passing hockey and actually created a number of chances. Overall a very good game of Supervets hockey.
We now go into our Christmas recess. Naturally you will all be getting into your strict fitness regime. Our next match is on 20th January which is home at 2:30 against St. Albans.
As a brief half term report I think we have continued to make good progress this season which has been confirmed by some of the results, in particular, wins away to Sevenoaks and Tulse Hill and in the last two away games we have had 14 players and played good enjoyable hockey.
The targets for the second half are, of course, to win games to maintain our presence in Supervets Division One but also keep developing the team structure and with that and a passing game, to keep the enjoyment levels high. If any of you have any printable comments about how we are going about things, we (being Andy, Kam and myself) are of course happy to listen.
One improvement I would like to see in the New Year is to responses on availability. We will get the rallying call out on Sunday or Monday and we really need to know about availability (being yes or no) from the squad on Monday or Tuesday at the latest. That way we can work out the numbers and it will cut down on the amount of work involved in getting the team sorted.
Well that’s it for the time being. There may be a game earlier in January possibly against the Willows which we will confirm in due course.
