A convincing win
The U16 Boys got their season off to an excellent start away to Saffron Walden on Sunday with an emphatic 14 - 2 victory. It was a pleasure to witness the whole 16 man squad play as a team. The new lads settled in superbly and everyone played with great composure and dexterity. Duane asked them to switch on from the start which was duly evident and after a crisp passing move down the right, James methodically converted to open the scoring. A steady stream of goals followed with the half ending 7 - 1 in our favour. The second half saw no let-up in fervour and a combination crisp, accurate passing resulted in further seven goals being added.
Although this represented a consummate team performance, congratulations must be bestowed upon the new members, namely Dan, Will, Fergus, Barney and Freddie for their seamless integration into the team. Both Freddie and Joseph ( captain ) marshalled the midfield with edifying aplomb, whilst all sixteen players displayed a truly exemplary attitude throughout. The coming season will bring sterner tests, yet if this squad employs the fortitude displayed yesterday, they have every reason to be animated about future matches. Well done !!
Mini Tournaments Begin….
On Sunday the Mini’s had their first Essex and Southern League tournaments of the season. 70 children aged between 7 and 12 years old travelled to Brentwood, Chelmsford and Saffron Walden to represent their club. As ever, they were brilliantly behaved and showed fighting spirit across all teams. Well done to everyone who participated. An excellent start to the season!

U10 Boys White Team
Great performance from a newly put together team, many of whom were playing their first tournament.
Luckily the storm the weather men had promised held off, and the only storm we saw was the White Team.
Our first match was against a well put together Old Southendian team who caught us on a break and managed to win 1-0, but from then all the White Walkers took over and we won the remaining three matches in a convincing fashion.
The White Team beat Southend & Benfleet 1-0, Wapping 2-0 and Brentwood 2-0.
Great individual performances from Charlie Ashton, Aaron Bull, Zach Entwhisle and Max Flower, but all the team did incredibly well and their performances are expected to get stronger in the matches to come.
U12 Boys Purple Team
The Purple team travelled to Saffron Walden, with the boys eager to get stuck in. Our first game was against the home team, Saffron Walden. We started off tentatively, scoring the first goal but Saffron Walden soon equalised. This edged the boys, on and they scored another two goals to win 3-1. This was a great start and with some exceptional individual playing. The boys kept up the momentum and listened well to the coaches input, resulting in a 5-0 win against Hertford. The next match was against Blue Hornets who were observing our games and preparing tactics. The boys knew they had to pick up their game. We scored and then they scored within a minute after. The boys dug deep and with some excellent individual play we managed to get a goal to make the final score 2-1. We went on to beat Crostyx 4-0, and in our final game, against Bishop Stortford, our hard work resulted in a 2-0 win.
Overall a great effort by the boys; 5 games 16 goals scored and 2 conceded. Lots to work on in the training session, we only had one sub and you could see the boys were exhausted in the last game. The senior members of the team also did well advising some of the newer players.
