Women in Sport Week 2016
Posted by Jane Blake on 30 September 2016
It is an opportunity for everybody involved with playing, delivering, leading or working in sport to celebrate, raise awareness and increase the profile of women’s sport across the UK. The objective of Women's Sport Week is to celebrate and showcase women’s sport at every level, from the grassroots to the elite, and highlight the incredible contribution that women make to sport. The overall aim is to get more women and girls physically active and playing sport.
England Hockey are joining in with this week and
- Will be running the social media campaign to recreate Holly Webb’s winning moment. ‘Share your Golden hockey moment with us! #WomeninHockey This can be sending in a picture of you celebrating like Holly Webb, video of a winning penalty or just celebrating a win with your friends/club.
- We believe there has been a great up take of clubs hosting Back To Hockey sessions post Rio so it would be great if clubs can make sure they promote their sessions across this week or put on a specific session. Maybe a mother & daughters night? Do let us know if you are running anything specifically.
- We will have a piece on Sally Munday and women in business to kick off the week followed by stories from our Gold medallists around the theme of family as we know how strong that is across our sport. Any clubs stories please let me know or tweet in so we can share these too!
- Insight Series are sessions being held across England around how to engage more women in sport which some of you may be interested in or your clubs may be in attending.
Let us know of any inspiring stories within your club. It might be a female volunteer who without you would struggle to run your club. We would definitely love to hear of mother, daughter and possible granddaughter stories.
Make as much noise about your club this week to attract new female members and celebrate your successes!
